Apple has a feature called "Live Photos" which basically turns photos into videos that capture a few seconds before and after each photos. From my perspective this is a useless and actively annoying feature. It is made more complicated by the fact that when you then upload these photos to Google Photos they are treated as videos, not photos. The Google Photos app has a new setting for disabling this when you upload your photos. If you are using an iPhone and Google Photos we strongly recommend that you disable Live Photos on your iPhone and enable "Remove video from motion photos" in the Google Photos iOS app.
